You may or may not have noticed that I haven't been around much lately. I lost my Internet connection for a few days, which, well, sucked. I was worried that it would be down past Sunday, which would have meant that I would not get to watch the new Doctor Who special. That was honestly the first thing that popped in my head when I found out that I couldn't get online. Because everything in my life inevitably comes back to television. So what did I do in my Internet-less time? Watch TV and movies, of course. ( State of Play (movie & miniseries) )( G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra )Also: Leap Year, the upcoming Amy Adams/Matthew Goode movie, does not look very good, does it? But at least it gives us visuals such as this:
So pretty! By the way, for the three of you who have read Sharp Teeth, these two are my Bonnie and Lark. YES. As far as TV goes, I've been watching Friday Night Lights, Community, 30 Rock (I've got to admit, I was close to abandoning it after the first two episodes, they were so lacking), Glee, Mad Men (what do you mean, we have to wait nine months to see what happens to Sterling Cooper Draper Price?), and Sons of Anarchy. I'm going to pull a TV Guide and call the latter the best show you're probably not watching. It's intense and filled with very flawed characters, so it's little surprise that it's gripped me in a way that no show since Deadwood has. If there's any justice, Katey Sagal will be collecting an Emmy this time next year for her work. And because no entry of mine is complete without some mention of food: I've been craving frozen yogurt like mad lately. I blame this on trips to Zuckersuss, the best frozen yogurt bar if just for the fact that they use biodegradable bowls and spoons which they compost themselves, and because their employees are willing to humor my friends and me despite our inane questions about how to pronounce "zuckersuss." I totally have the urge to do a huge picspam with a bunch of "Best of the Decade" lists at the end of the year. Like best movies of the decade, best TV shows, characters, episodes, etc. I don't know if I'll have time, though. My finals go all the way until December 19th this year, and then there'll be a bunch of stuff going on with Christmas and New Year's and all that. But we'll see. Maybe by me mentioning it, I'll actually do it. ( Bones )( Ugly Betty )Am I the only one who still watches Ugly Betty? I'm guessing so. Not that I blame anyone. Most of the time I wonder why I'm still watching it (although it has been better this season so far, IMO). Seriously, the reasons I still watch Ugly Betty are basically: Marc, Amanda, Justin, Marc/Justin friendship, and Daniel occasionally. That's pretty much it. If the show could just be about them and not Betty and her stupid drama, then I would be all for that. The complete series of Farscape is coming out on DVD next Tuesday and it's on sale for only like $75! Oh man, I am so tempted to buy it! $75 for 4 seasons is a ridiculously amazing deal! That's less than $20 a season! If I saw like season 2 by itself randomly listed as $20, I would get it immediately, no questions asked! But... $75 is a lot to spend in one go when I don't have the job and have no intention of getting a job anytime soon. On the other hand, I haven't bought a DVD set with my own money (meaning, not given to me as a gift or bought with gift cards for Barnes and Noble or Amazon) since... high school? I've been super cheap since I graduated from high school, and even during high school I was pretty cheap and wouldn't buy DVD sets that often. And I did have a job the summer before last and made about $1200 in all, and I don't need that money to pay for food/housing/etc.; I've just been saving it for the most part. Well, some of it has gone for gas (although not a whole lot since I don't have a car here; I only use my car at home, and I'm at home for less than half the year, and I don't go out that often). But for the most part, I haven't spent any of that money. So maybe I should splurge for once and buy it? IT'S OVER 50% OFF THE LISTED PRICE! LESS THAN $20 A SEASON! THERE'S FREE SHIPPING! As cheap as I am, I really cannot resist a sale. And I do adore the show, so I'd definitely want to get the seasons on DVD at some point in my life. Ok, I think I've convinced myself to buy it. If there's ever a point in my life where I'm totally out of money and wish I had $75 left to pay rent or buy food or something, remind me of this moment. my roommate left me a note that basically said that she had to do all the cleaning up because I hadn't done it yet, and that I needed to remember that I had to help. and then she finished it with a ":)" I was really sore this morning because I got my ass kicked in self defense yesterday and could barely move, so of course I didn't clean up then. I had already told her I was going to clean up after class. And I did sweep. I just came downstairs and she RESWEEPED to show me all the dirt I had missed, but couldn't even put it away herself. Who leaves a big pile of dirt in the middle of the kitchen? I was going to mop, which would get rid of everything I missed. So, if I stop posting because I've been arrested for murder in the next few days, you'll know why. I have a feeling my 'i hate my roommate' tag is going to have a LOT of entries soon. but at least Supernatural is continuing to be amazing! I seriously think this is the best season yet, NGL, thought it is seriously lacking in my favorite BAMF Castiel. I loved the topics - fragile child Dean and homoerotic subtext! I seriously love the meta eps almost as much as the super dramatic epic ones. And i was all D'AWWW when 'Dean' put his head on 'Sam's' shoulders, and Dean's "howdy...partners.' About the promo - i'm not a Dean/Jo shipper, but I want Dean to be happy. Jo is basically female!Dean, so..what's the problem? I doubt they'll do anything more than fuck, but I love it when Dean fucks ;) Tags: i hate my roommate, tv: supernatural Soundtrack:: Placebo - I'll Be Yours | Powered by Last.fm

( Community. )( Parks and Recreation. )( The Office. )( 30 Rock. )Just for hilarity's sake, check this out. This is how I rolled circa July 2003: i have come to a very important decision -
josh jackson (erm, pacey - from dawsons creek) is my TV boyfriend. Yes. You can't convince me otherwise. it used to be cory, from Boy Meets World - but dammit, he marries Topanga. and why her? i mean, i think it would've been a better show if her and Shawn got together, am i right? hrmph. and before him it was that blonde kid (michael? no....i dunno..) on Salute Your Shorts. You know, he was the one all the girls liked - the shy/sensitive one.Ahem. It's not my fault, I was only 20. Clearly punctuation hadn't registered yet. Well, anyway, taste my TV boyfriends, will you? Michael --> Cory --> Pacey. It's been an upwards progression in both TV boyfriends and overall brain function. WHAT UP!
